Four Illegal Workers Arrested in Devon Based Indian Restaurant
Posted: 31/08/2010 16:24:53

A raid by the UK Border Agency has revealed that four illegal immigrants have been working in an Indian restaurant in Devon. The men, of Iranian and Bangladeshi origin, are all believed to have applied for work visas that have yet to be granted, meaning it is still illegal for them to work in the UK.

If their applications are turned down, the men will be deported. One of the men argued that he had permission to work in the UK and initial checks seemed to prove this. However it emerged that his visa had expired in July and he was in the UK illegally.

The Indian restaurant has been given a civil penalty notice which warns the employer that a fine of £10,000 per illegal worker will be imposed unless they can prove that the Indian restaurant carried out the correct checks before hiring the men.

Low Carbon Restaurant Chain Coming to Britain
Posted: 31/08/2010 16:02:42

The low carbon restaurant Otarian is due to open its first UK branches in London this week, to the delight of eco-warriors everywhere. The restaurant has a vegetarian principle and will be the first to include information on the carbon footprints of each of its meals.

Restaurants in Wardour Street, Soho, Shaftesbury Avenue, and Covent Garden are due to open on August 20th.

The restaurant has a "No Air Freight" policy meaning that all products are shipped by road or else the dishes are changed. Around 98% of the waste from the restaurant is either composted or recycled. The restaurant buildings themselves are made from sustainable materials as well.

Snack Bar Owner Becomes Local Hero After Standing up to Fast Food Chain
Posted: 31/08/2010 15:45:30

A snack bar owner who was subject to the legal muscle of the McDonald's fast food chain has become a hero to Italian politicians and food campaigners who are apparently getting sick of the massive American fast food vendor.

Ican Puddu called his tiny snack bar McPuddu's in an attempt to give it a fast food feel. However he received two warnings from McDonalds in short order, who claimed that customers may mistake his snack bar for one of their restaurants.

Despite Puddu pointing out that his speciality of a Sardinian form of stuffed pasta was unlikely to be confused with a Big Mac, McDonalds still went ahead with the legal challenge.

Puddu states "Over here, the parcels are made by hand on Sundays in Sardinian homes. They are good, old-fashioned and a family ritual." With no funds to fight the legal proceedings, Puddu has simply nailed a plank over the offending prefix with the word censored emblazoned upon it.

Underwater Indian Restaurant Converted into Honeymoon Suite
Posted: 31/08/2010 15:27:54

Conrad Hotels have taken the decision to convert the underwater Indian Restaurant in their hotel into a honeymoon suite. The hotel, which is based on the Maldives Rangali Islands resort, has touted the underwater Indian restaurant for a number of years.

The domed "reverse aquarium" formely seated 12 diners and provided amazing views of the exotic sea life, including sting rays, parrot fish and blue-striped snappers.

Conrad Hotels have decided to convert it to celebrate their fifth year anniversary, making it a bridal suite to be envious of. Guest are treated to complimentary champagne in the morning, but as yet the cost of the room is unknown. However, given that the hotel's most expensive room costs £1,156 per night, we don't expect it to be cheap.

Home Secretary's Favourite Indian Restaurant in Immigration Raid
Posted: 31/08/2010 15:04:03

The favoured Indian Restaurant of home secretary Theresa May has been raided by her own department's immigration officers after it was discovered that two illegal immigrants were working there.

Two Bangladeshi men, aged 20 and 36, were detained in the raid while working at the Indian Restaurant where Ms May is believed to dine quite regularly.

Ms May is even pictured on the restaurant's website and is quoted in the guestbook as exclaiming "To Malik, thank you for a wonderful meal." The Indian restaurant plays host to an array of celebrity diners, including Peter Jones, Ulrika Jonsson and Heston Blumenthal.

The two workers are detained on suspicion of over-staying their visas and it is believed that the raid will be embarrassing for Ms May, who has taken a tough stance on immigration since coming to power.

A UK Borders Agency source told the Daily Mirror "It's not every day that you get to raid somewhere that is a frequent haunt of the Home Secretary. It's bizarre to think that she could have been served by one of these men, and she obviously wouldn't have known a thing about it."

The Rose Murree Indian restaurant in Birmingham ensures that all of its employees are fully accredited and allowed to work in the UK. This way we can provide you with the best Indian food in Birmingham.

Tony Blair was Ousted in Indian Restaurant Plot After Cherie Redecorated Nuclear Bunker
Posted: 24/08/2010 11:41:10

It has been unveiled by outspoken former Labour party minister Chris Mullin that the plans to oust Tony Blair as leader that mainly took place in a Wolverhampton based Indian restaurant finally came about when his wife Cherie redecorated the Whitehall nuclear bunker using taxpayer's money.

Labour members were already incensed that Blair had failed to step down as promised after winning a third election, with the eventual rebellion being sparked by both the bunker redecoration and a bill from Cherie to the Labour party of £7,500 for the cost of maintaining her haircut during the election campaign.

According to Cullin, Tom Watson, then a defence minister, organised the meeting at the Indian restaurant to organise the party coup, becoming one of 15 influential names to pen a letter urging Mr Blair to go. Blair eventually stepped down within the year.

Mr Blair denies asking for the bunker to be redecorated at any point during his leadership.

Still the story demonstrates a level of intrigue quite uncommon in a restaurant setting. We at the Rose Murree Indian restaurant in Birmingham aim to create this level of intrigue with our Indian food at all times.

Man Cleared of Rape at Indian Restaurant in Gloucester
Posted: 24/08/2010 11:29:32

A man has been cleared of raping a female customer in the toilets of the Spice Indian restaurant in Gloucester after arguing that the sex was consensual.

Mohammed Iqbal Hussain, aged 21, was cleared of the charges when a jury failed to reach a verdict in the case and adjourned to allow the prosecution to decide if they should pursue a retrial. The case was eventually dropped after consultation with the alleged victim.

Mr Hussain was granted £300 travel expenses by the courts after being cleared.

The incident occurred when Mr Hussain was working as a delivery driver for the Indian restaurant back in September. The girl, aged 19, knew Mr Hussain and was having a meal in the Indian restaurant at the time when he allegedly text her asking her to meet him in the toilets.

She claimed that he held her up against the wall of the toilets and raped her, but also agreed that she did not scream for help at any time. Mr Hussain stated "I made the first move and we both kissed. There was no reluctance from her."

The Rose Murree Indian restaurant in Birmingham would never allow an incident like this to occur in our Indian restaurant with our knowledge. We are only interested in serving the finest Indian food in Birmingham

Fire Crew Called to Yorkshire Based Indian Restaurant
Posted: 24/08/2010 11:13:45

A Fire Crew was called from the Maltby fire station recently to help deal with an electrical incident at an Indian restaurant in South Yorkshire recently.

The Indian restaurant, known as the Daanyaa Indian Restaurant on the Maltby High Street, had called after spotting smoke coming from the fuse box in the restaurant. Fire crews came to deal with the electrical incident, reporting no flames but a lot of smoke in the incident.

A spokeperson for the fire crew claimed there were three chefs but no customers in the Indian Restaurant.

This is an example of a restaurant owner and relevant authorities acting quickly to ensure the safety of their customers. The Rose Murree Indian restaurant in Birmingham would hope to be able to emulate this quick response should we ever encounter such a hazard, meaning that our customers should feel free to enjoy their Indian food in Birmingham in complete safety.

Tyneside Indian Restaurant Extension no Longer Planned
Posted: 24/08/2010 11:07:00

A move by Nazrul Islam to build an extension onto his Tandoori International curry house has been refused planning permission by the South Tyneside Council's planning committee to extend the building sideways, despite there being no objections to the plans beforehand.

Mr Islam took the application to appeal and now a Government planning inspector has backed the council's decison, calling the proposal "inappropriate".

Inspector Kevin Ward states "The existing building has retained much of its original appearance, including the bay windows to the front and side. The proposed extension would project up to the boundary with the footway, obscuring the existing bay window to the side of the building in views from Ocean Road. The simple style and overall form of the extension would be out of keeping with the more traditional appearance of the existing building. I have taken account of the benefits that increased space and seating capacity would bring to the business. I also note the lack of objection to the planning application and the petition in support of the appeal. None of these factors are sufficient to outweigh the harm I have identified in terms of the character and appearance of the building and the area generally."

The Rose Murree would never consider attempting such vast modifications on our Indian restaurant in Birmingham. We are situated in a gorgeous Georgian era building and we feel that there is no need to alter it in any way.

South Wales Indian Restaurant Refused Alcohol Licence
Posted: 24/08/2010 10:58:53

An Indian restaurant that had been due to open in a notorious part of South Wales has been refused a licence to sell alcohol and police claim the area is a "saturation zone".

The Indian restaurant's owner, Mostafa Uddin, was told by Cardiff Council's licensing sub-committee that he could not serve alcohol or keep the Indian restaurant open after 11PM due to the saturation zone ruling, which has been put in place due to the abundance of takeaways and licensed premises on the Crwys Road.

South Wales Police also refused to accept the granting of a licence, claiming the area was a hotspot for criminal activity in relation to drunkeness.

The Rose Murree is delighted to not be subject to such sanctions. Our Indian restaurant in Birmingham is amongst the best in the country and our unique Indian food is sure to delight all of our visitors.
